A trip back to History. Corrigidor Island

The Fall of the Philippines during WWII

General Douglas MacArthur, under orders from Roosevelt, secretly left the Philippines by PT boat for Australia on March 11, 1942, leaving Major-General Wainwright in command. Upon arriving in Australia, MacArthur proclaimed: "I came through and I shall return." Despite a determined defense by the hungry and disease-ridden American and Filipino troops, Bataan was forced to surrender on April 9, 1942. Almost 78,000 troops were captured by the Japanese. But for the defenders of the peninsula, the ordeal was only the beginning. The "Bataan Death March" was to severely test the resolve of Allied soldiers. Many troops died of exhaustion or hunger, as well as at the hands of their merciless captors during the sixty-mile trek to the prison at Camp O'Donnell.

In the meantime, on the island of Corregidor, known as the "Rock," American and Filipino holdouts were enduring intense day-and-night aerial and artillery bombardment. When the Japanese invaded the little island on the night of May 5, they met stiff resistance from American Marines, Philippine Scouts and civilian volunteers. Although the Japanese invasion force was smaller than the Allied defense, the Japanese managed to land artillery and tanks. On May 6, General Wainwright surrendered Corregidor, the last American stronghold in the Pacific..The war in the Philippines appeared over.

Thousands of Americans and Filipinos refused to obey the surrender orders and continued to fight the Japanese forces in a lengthy guerrilla war that lasted until the American recapture of the 7,000-island nation in October, 1944. One technique used during the early part of the guerrilla movement was to dig road pits. Japanese trucks carrying search parties crashed into the pits; soldiers were killed, and the guerrillas took their weapons and ammunition. This greatly infuriated the Japanese commanders, who ordered their troops to literally chain their rifles to themselves to prevent easy guerrilla access.

Starting in January 1942 and until the end of the campaign, the guerrillas were also supplied by American submarines, which provided arms, ammunition, and medical supplies. To qualify as a "recognized" guerrilla unit and receive Allied assistance, each guerrilla group had to meet criteria established by the Allied commanders in Australia. The guerrillas not only harassed the occupying Japanese through hit-and-run raids and sabotage, but also provided invaluable intelligence to the Allied forces.

*Today, the island of Corregidor is a historic tourist site managed by the city of Cavite.

This is the Malinta Tunnel Thousand of people died in here.. can you believe that one of the guest saw something inside..He said lots of people he saw,But he only told us after we came out he dont want to scare people. But he probably have third eye..But that was scary we went inside and our guide told us to turn off all our lights so we can experience, what they had experience back then when the bomb hit above and all the power went off.it was for about 20 minutes of total darkness no sound,No light..So scary..

The Filipino Heroes Memorial is a relatively recent addition to Corregidor; it honors Filipino war heroes and martyrs. All around its perimeter, 14 murals show different episodes from local history - from the Battle of Mactan in 1521 to the People Power Revolution in 1986.

Bohol Travel Experience

Inside the ferry, My bed :)
Always wanted to visit Bohol, But it took me years to do it so, So finally after a long wait I got a chance to finally see this beautiful Island of Visayas, took a ferry ride from Bohol Via  Lite Ferries, It leaves from Cagayan de Oro around 10:00 Pm and will arrived at Bohol around 7:00 Am, So its like overnight Journey. So I decided to book a Suite so i can rest well, I had this sleepless night when from Cagayan de oro to Cebu before with Trans Asia, So I don't want that to happen again, Lucky enough i booked ahead, cos they only have 2 cabin and one suite.

It was very smooth ride,Plus the weather was good. But the ferry will dock in Jagna Bohol and from Jagna you have to ride a bus Via Ceres to Tagbilaran city, It was not a lot, and the travel only takes 1 hour, for Economy its 60 pesos and for Airconditioned its 68 pesos, Arrived at tagbilaran City around 9:00 AM, and took a tricycle from the Bus terminal to my hotel, The main Transportation in Bohol mostly tricycle to get around, could barely see taxi,

Panglao Island Relaxing at Alona beach.
On my first day I decided to visit Panglao Island,You can approached the Tricycle driver and they will be more than happy to take you there for only 300 pesos back and fort,They will just wait for you when you return back to Tagbilaran, I found out that Boholano is actually very accommodating and very hospitable, and can be very sweet as well, Could not find that in Cagayan de Oro.:) while enjoying the beautiful Panglao island my driver patiently waiting for me,:)

On our way back he ask me if I wanted to visit the Bee farm and hinagdanan cave cos it will be on our way. So why not?
Hinagdanan Cave

Hinagdanan cave,Its has unique beauty, enjoyed the funny tour guide as well, The cave is so spacious inside, with wonderful natural lighting. The stalactites are awesome. I did not feel claustrophobic inside. A really worth to visit while in Bohol.Dont forget to take a photo like this :)

Bee farm
Next Destination was the Bee farm. Oh its a very Interesting short bee farm tour, Very informative as well, Believe it or not, I did not know that you can actually eat the boquin bella petals, and some different kind of petals salad was served, Lots of honey products as well. Dont forget to dine at Bee Restaurant while appreciating the magnificent views,

On the next day I decided to book a tour, You have plenty of choices, You can join a group tour for only 400 pesos or you can book a private tour from 1800 pesos to 2500 pesos for a car.and 3000 to 4000 pesos for a van. Its an 8 hours whole day tour.So I booked for Car, Cos I wanted to manage my own time and to see around privately. My driver was very nice as well.

First Stop the Chocolate hills, Prepare plenty of water, and if you have heart problems, take it at your own risk. Its a long walk to get to the viewing point,So I would not advise it to people with heart problem. Although you can go slowly maybe :) But its really worth the beauty of chocolate hills is indeed a breathtaking to see from the top. So amazing how this hills form in similar sizes,

For you to get closer to the hills, You might want to try this ATV rides as well, its only 450 pesos for the Single and 900 pesos for the double for 30 minutes ride,You would certainly see the hills closely and get a chance to take photos nearer as well.

After visiting Chocolate hills, next stop was the Man made forest.I don't know much about it but my driver said it was planted by Boholano ages ago.:)

After the Man made Forest  Our next stop is to see this little cute creature, The Tarsier, Always wanted to see this before and finally we meet, :) This beautiful little thing, is so small that can actually fit into your palm. Sad to say there are only few left after the Devastating earthquake last 2013, Maybe some few died.

Visited the remains of Loboc church. This is really said, This church was built many years ago and was damage during the 2013 earthquake that left bohol devastated,.

This is the most awaited one, I've always wanted to visit here, The Loboc River Cruise, You are cruising in the river while having your meal, This is really a must visit while in Bohol, The food was great, The ambiance was amazing,

Our next Stop is the Butterfly Sanctuary,The butterflies there is also a feeding area, plant farm, breeding center and product workshop.

Next Stop is the The Baclayon Church The town of Baclayon is famous for its Catholic church, the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. It is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines, with construction commencing in 1717, the year Baclayon became a parish, and was finally completed in 1727.Although its so sad, The it was actually badly affected by the earthquake as well.

Prony: The Biggest snake on captive, Sad to say its already died on august 2013 I haven't able to see the real one,

The Blood compact Shrine. This will be our last place to visit. Beautiful scenery at the back. :)

There you go, My Bohol experience was really a great one, I enjoyed every minute of it and will definitely visit this place again in the future.

My Boracay Land Travel Experience the unforgettable.

Caticlan Port to Boracay Port – The Jetty Port has Bangka pump boats that ferry between the Caticlan mainland and Boracay Island from 5:00 in the morning to 9:00 in the evening. . The Bangka trip is 30  however non-residents also pay a 75 PHP Environmental fee, and a 100 PHP Terminal fee.
Thats actually sounds very tiring and a very long journey, But I enjoy it if waiting and lots of waiting is not for you then I would not recommend it.

Leave in Cagayan de oro Evening  it takes around 8 hours via Trans Asia ferry, Arrived at Cebu in the morning, It was a very smooth journey, Boarded on ferry around 5:00 pm although it leaves around 7:00 pm, The sunset was beautiful really good to see, Although could not sleep, As i'm not very comfortable I was in economy accommodation and the one beside me snoring so loud,  and Im also not used to sleep while i can feel the moved. So spent all night in the Bar, having some drinks.

Arrived Cebu City in the morning and took a bus from Cebu to Bacolod,The Travel time is 6-8 hours, possibly more depending on the barge. Was so tired due to sleepless nights while on the ferry, I fall asleep on the journey, When I woke up, I was amazed by the breathtaking views from the outside.

Arrived Bacolod and took a ferry from Bacolod to Ilo Ilo. Oh this is nightmare, The ferry was so small and over loaded, Plus the weather wasn't really cooperating that time, So made myself sick while on the boat, But I did survived, Thankfully :)

Arrived Ilo- Ilo took a jeepney from the port to the bus terminal, for only 8 pesos they will bring you to the Tagbak Terminal, But I realized I would not be able to get to Caticlan on time so I told the jeepney driver to just bring me to the nearest pensione house to sleep for a night,In the morning took a bus from Ilo Ilo to Caticlan. Lucky enough found a friend that is heading to Boracay as well, So it made my long bus journey from Ilo Ilo to Caticlan more Interesting and enjoyable. It was a long 6 hours journey. But then again the views outside is beautiful.

Finally Arrived Caticlan, Bought my ticket for ferry, They called it Pambot, Its only 25 pesos but you have to pay terminal fee, 50 Php and Environmental fee which is 75 pesos, so that is around 150 pesos all in all.Ferry ride took 20 minutes, wasnt that far. So finally arrived Boracay, I spent  4 days in this beautiful Island, Would I do the land Travel again? probably not,Ill tell you it was really risky, and tiring, but if you are up for an adventure, then why not?

I Decide to just fly on my way back home could not do that long trip again.lol

Camiguin Island. ( The beauty of camiguin Island)

There are a lot of things you can do in Camiguin. But mostly, these are for nature lovers. The island abounds with beautiful beaches, waterfalls, sites, thick foliage and wonderful people. Being there is like being in a virgin forest. Here are a few things you can/must do in Camiguin.

SUNKEN CEMETERY

Located in Bonbon, Catarman a huge cross marker has been installed by the Provincial government to mark the community cemetery that sunk during the 1871 volcanic holocaust. Years ago, gravestones were visible during low tide.

ARDENT HOT SPRING

The local hot spa is a natural pool of about 40 degrees centigrade springing from depths of Mount Hibok-Hibok. The Municipality of Mambajao has provided cottages, restaurant and dormitory facilities that cater to local and foreign tourists. It has picnic huts, cookout facilities and restrooms for visitors. It is ideal for night swimming, a place to rejuvenate both mind and body.

WHITE ISLAND

Two kilometers off the coast of Agoho, Mambajao is the Camiguin's popular sand bar. At times it is in the shape of the letter C, sometimes the letter I, depending on the ocean tide. It has the picturesque Mount Hibok-Hibok and Old Vulcan as its backdrop. It is ideal for swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling.

KATIBAWASAN FALLS

The 250-feet majestic beauty cascades to a rock pool surrounded by ground orchids, wild ferns, trees and boulders. Its ice-cold waters provide an ideal summer splash to locals and tourists alike. Rock picnic tables, seats and cookout facilities are available for use.

STO. NIÑO COLD SPRING

Located in Catarman, the Sto. Niño Cold Spring has a pool measuring 25 meters by 40 meters. It is 2 meters deep of cold spring water sprouting from the sandy bottom. The area has a restaurant, native cottages, picnic huts, cookout facilities and restrooms for visitors.

OLD CHURCH RUINS.

The Old Church Ruins of Camiguin is one of the oldest and unique structures in the island. Old because it was built sometime in the 16th century. Unique because it is made from coral stones. It was later turned to ruins by the 1871 Vulcan eruption.
